Douglas W. Kennard, ThD is Professor of New Testament, Theology, Philosophy and Old Testament at Houston Graduate School of Theology. In addition to his time at HGST, Doug has over thirty years’ experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate students at HGST, Bryan College, and Moody Bible Institute. He was a past Mid-West regional president of the Evangelical Theological Society. He has been happily married to Jan for over forty years and has two adult sons, Peter and Nathan. He has served in the Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster, facilitating twenty boys to Eagle Scout rank. He and his family enjoy many outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, climbing, and snow skiing. On a fine day, you might find him rowing his crew shell on Lake Houston or tending his many berry bushes, fruit trees, and vegetable garden. He worked as a project engineer with Ashland Oil Company before seminary. He has a passion for ecology and has previously designed and built a passive solar house in the Chicago area. His ministry is rounded out by serving his church in a variety of positions including assistant pastor, elder, and Sunday school teacher.
