Ken Shuman

Kairos Affiliate Professor

DMin, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary

MA, MDiv (equivalency), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

Dr. Ken Shuman is a Missional Church consultant. Dr. Shuman brings twenty-eight years of pastoral and church planting experience to this task.

He was the founding pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. During his thirteen-year ministry at Cornerstone, the church grew from a core of 60 to just under 1,000 members.

Dr. Shuman was one of the co-founders of LeadersEdge, a leadership development process that originated as a ministry of Union Baptist Association. He served on the team that began Mission Houston, a cross-denominational ministry working to bring transformation to the city of Houston.

Currently Dr. Shuman is leading an emerging missional faith community in Tomball, Texas, called Wellspring. For the last several years, he has been learning what it means to be a “missional church.” Wellspring’s primary focus is ministering to people with a postmodern worldview.

Dr. Shuman holds two masters degrees, a Master of Arts in Religious Education and a Master of Divinity equivalency from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Evangelistic Church Growth from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Ken has been married to Becky for thirty-plus years. Ken and Becky have two grown daughters.
