Thanking God for His Continued Blessings

September 5, 2016

The 2016-2017 academic year at Sioux Falls Seminary began last Monday, August 29.  Students returned to campus and are journeying together on the road of theological education.  Faculty and administration are continuing their commitment to make theological education more affordable, accessible, and relevant as they remain faithful to their calling as servants of God.  We thank God for his continued blessings at the seminary.  These include:

  • Increased student enrollment for the third consecutive year;
  • A record year of client contacts at Sioux Falls Psychological Services;
  • Generous gifts that have allowed SFS to partner with the Cameroon Baptist Convention and Taylor Seminary to strengthen the system of theological education across Cameroon;
  • The appointment of Steve Trefz as the director of the Wesley House of Study;
  • Partnership development opportunities in the Luther House of Study;
  • Graduation of our first two Kairos Project students in May 2016;
  • The opportunity to shape the future of theological education through participation in the Association of Theological Schools’ Educational Models and Practices Peer Group Forum;
  • Strong finances and debt reduction have eliminated the need for tuition increases the last four years, with the hope of further lowering the financial burden on students in the years ahead.

As the seminary begins its 159th year of developing servants for their participation in the kingdom mission, please consider how you might join us.  We thank God for faithful ministry partners like you as we walk boldly into an exciting future.
