If you’re interested in exploring creativity in preaching, you don’t want to miss the unique Kairos Gathering we are hosting in August at Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) in Green Lake, WI. The gathering is hosted in conjunction with καινός: Explorations in Creative Preaching—a project funded by the Lilly Endowment’s Compelling Preaching Initiative.

Join Us at Green Lake for the Creativity in Preaching Lab — August 11–15, 2025
The Greek word καινός (kainos) refers to something fresh, new, or previously unseen. We see it used in Isaiah 43:19 when we read, “Behold, I am doing a new thing….” That’s exactly what καινός is all about: creating space for people to explore, experience, and experiment with preaching in new and compelling ways.

The August 2025 gathering at Green Lake will function as a preaching lab designed to foster creativity, encourage experimentation, and facilitate conversation about the art and practice of preaching. You can learn more by:

Why You Should Come
This gathering is for pastors, ministry leaders, students, and others in the Kairos community who want to:

1. Explore alternative approaches to preaching.
2. Be exposed to new ideas and methods.
3. Learn from other preachers in a collaborative environment.
4. Participate in preaching labs and receive feedback in a supportive setting.
5. Reflect together on what makes preaching compelling in today’s world.

The week will include hands-on preaching sessions, facilitated discussions on the nature of creativity in preaching, and time to enjoy the beauty of the Green Lake Conference Center campus. Afternoons and evenings offer space for rest, reflection, and community—plus the option to spend time on the lake.

Cost and Details
Participants may choose between two accommodation options:

• $200 for hotel-style lodging (includes meals and program fees).
• $50 for dorm-style lodging (also includes meals and program fees).

Meet the Director
The Creativity in Preaching project is directed by Rev. Dr. Heather Henson, Affiliate Faculty and Adjunct Professor in Pastoral Ministries and Preaching at Kairos University. Heather brings deep pastoral experience and a creative spirit to the project. She provides leadership across the initiative, facilitates the summer immersion experiences, serves as a preaching coach, and contributes to the project’s content and design.

As an institutional partner, Kairos University is helping provide content, learning experiences, and pathways for continued engagement for those who participate in the project.
