What’s Happening at Kairos: Gen Z and Preaching

June 15, 2026

Next week, the Green Lake Conference Center is partnering with Kairos University to host the Gen Z and Preaching gathering. Throughout the week, attendees will explore how to better connect with Gen Z through formational preaching through worship, reflection, and rich dialogue.

This year’s Gen Z and Preaching Gathering is facilitated by Tanya Gericke, Director of Undergraduate Formation at Kairos University. We asked Tanya to reflect on last year’s Gen Z and Preaching gathering and share what she is looking forward to next week. Here’s what she had to say:

“Last year’s Gen Z and Preaching gathering was a meaningful time of connection with ministry leaders who are attentive to what God is doing in the next generation and who desire to come alongside Gen Z in this unique season. Our time together created space for deeper learning about the unique gifts, callings, and challenges of Gen Z, while also providing opportunities to share ideas about how we might participate in reaching and mobilizing this generation through the way we preach.”

Throughout the gathering, participants will not only learn alongside one another but will also engage directly with Gen Z leaders in action through the Quest program. From observing them in ministry settings to joining conversations about their experiences and vision for the future of the Church, attendees will gain valuable insight into the perspectives and leadership of the next generation.

“This year, I am looking forward to gathering with even more ministry leaders who are passionate about equipping and empowering Gen Z through preaching. I am excited for the conversations we will share, the ways we will reflect together on communicating the message of the Gospel to this next generation, and the opportunities we will have to encourage one another in our ministries. I am also eager once again to witness Gen Z leaders in action and thoughtfully reflect on what we are learning from them.”

Next week, participants will consider how the Spirit is already moving among Gen Z and how the Church can faithfully join in that work. Through teaching, conversation, and reflection, attendees will explore approaches to preaching that encourage and equip young people to respond to God’s calling in their lives.
