MENTORS

Providing guidance for your journey.

As a Kairos student, you will have a mentor team walking alongside you throughout your educational journey.

Your team will consist of a Kairos-appointed faculty mentor as well as a personal mentor and a vocational mentor who are carefully selected by you.

Your team will help you uncover the educational moments that are already happening within your vocational and/or ministry context every day. In addition to providing support, encouragement, and evaluation, they will guide you through your program and help you adapt your coursework in a contextually-relevant way.

The Invitation to Integration

Mentors commit themselves to the student’s full educational process. Beyond evaluators and supporters, mentors are co-learners with students. Such effort takes a considerable investment of time and energy. Mentors make this commitment in order to steward your journey of discipleship and help you flourish in your vocation.

Discipleship

  • Deepen your faith as you follow Jesus
  • Participate in a journey of discipleship and formation that invites you to embody the way of Jesus as citizen of the kingdom of God
  • Learn to integrate your faith and your vocation so that what you do is shaped by what it means to follow Jesus

Vocational Excellence

  • Develop skills for discovering, analyzing, and applying information in a variety of contexts
  • Learn to communicate effectively with the world around you
  • Develop excellence and expertise in your chosen vocation

Mastery Learning

  • Develop patterns of thinking that reflect biblical, theological, historical, contextual, and vocational realities
  • Demonstrate your learning through a portfolio of learning that provides evidence of who you are, what you can do, and where you thrive
  • Learn in the context of real life situations rather than fabricated classroom experiences.

The Mentor Team

Such effort takes a considerable investment of time and energy and they make this commitment in order to steward your journey of discipleship and to help you flourish in your vocation.

Faculty Mentor

Faculty mentors are approved members of the Kairos faculty. Obviously, all faculty mentors are acquainted with academic standards and scholarly research. More importantly, they are skilled integrationists who have a desire to help students deepen their faith and flourish in their chosen vocations.

Vocational Mentor

Vocational mentors are intimately engaged in the student’s current context and/or role. In most cases, this means that vocational mentors are supervisors, leaders, experienced colleagues, or others familiar with or connected to the context and its requirements.

Personal Mentor

Personal mentors are confidants or individuals from whom students wish to learn. They must have, or be willing to develop, a close relationship with the student. The personal mentor is able to provide spiritual companionship because he or she is rooted in faith and understands the Christian life.
