Susan Heeren Reese’s life call and professional contributions are summed up in the questions of “Who is God, who am I, and what is God doing through me and those around me?” Her B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Sioux Falls is where she encountered intentional mentors who modeled Christ like living and the integration of theological conversations into everyday life. Susan obtained a MA in Counseling from Sioux Falls Seminary where she studied the human condition and the dynamics of change.  Her EdD in Adult and Higher Education from University of South Dakota influenced her belief in, and love for adult learning models of education and mentoring.  Susan is a certified CliftonStrengths coach and finds this assessment to be a helpful tool in mentoring students.  She completed a certificate in spiritual direction from Christos Center, MN.

Susan has served in higher education as director of admissions, resident director and associate dean of residence life.  As professor, she has taught in the disciplines of spiritual formation and direction, leadership and administration.  As professor of spiritual formation and direction, she oversees and teaches in the Kairos Listening People to Life: Training in Spiritual Direction program and serves as faculty mentor for students in certificate, MA, MDiv, and DMin programs.
