Partnership Spotlight: Frank W Boreham College

November 10, 2025

The Frank W Boreham College is an initiative of Tasmanian Baptists (Australia) to provided ministry and theological education/training and reflection for Baptists across Tasmania. It assumes that a key to growth and sustainability for Tasmanian Baptists is the holistic development of pastors and leaders. Meaning, well developed in content, character, and craft.

As Australia’s smallest state with the smallest Baptist Union, Tasmanian Baptist has never had the capacity to provide ministry and theological pathways for our people. The result until very recently was people move to the mainland for their training, with the majority never returning.

For the first time in its history, through the Frank W Boreham College Tasmanian Baptist will make qualified training accessible within the state for its pastors, leaders, and members. They can now,

  • make available a learning journey that does not require people to leave the state,
  • offer the ability to tailor the learning journey specifically to the Tasmania context,
  • offer a learning journey alongside fellow Tasmanian Baptist pastors and leaders,
  • offer a pathway to undergraduate and graduate ministry and theological qualifications, and
  • focus mission and ministry research on Tasmanian churches and local communities.

This is all possible through the establishment of two strategic partnerships. Firstly, with Whitley College of Melbourne, Australia, and secondly with Kairos University of North America.
