Meet Jenny
Master of Divinity, Kairos University
Rancho Cordova, CA
Lay teaching minister in a church plant, serving in outreach among refugees.
We asked Jenny a few questions to learn more about her journey at Kairos. Here is what we discovered.
What led you to Kairos University?
I had recognized giftings and passions for ministry that had not been recognized before, and I realized that I needed to pay attention to that. Kairos offered an accessible way for me to move forward in that faithful attentiveness and care. I appreciated the excellent education, given with humility, Christ-filled “hospitality,” and the freedom to be curious. This freedom allowed me to question, to consider, and to grow during my time at Kairos.
What moments or experiences at Kairos have been most meaningful in your journey?
I greatly appreciate the individual care and mentorship I experienced during my time at Kairos University. Especially from my mentor, Dr. Sarah Bollinger, and other professors, Dr. Philip Thompson, Dr. Phil Bollinger, Dr. Ralph Korner, Dr. David Lamb, and Dr. Doug Buckwalter, who were all such life-giving and joyous mentors. Additionally, I made dear friends through the learning experiences and regional gatherings. The gatherings were profoundly life-giving and impactful for me. I am so thankful for the connections made there and the chance to learn to listen to the Spirit in community.
How has your love for Jesus grown during your time at Kairos?
My love for Jesus has grown in many ways while at Kairos University. I’ve learned to have a better understanding of church history and about the ways that our theology has been shaped by that history. Growing my skills for understanding, reading, and interpreting the Bible has enriched my life immeasurably.
What advice do you have for someone considering attending Kairos University?
What you put into Kairos is returned by unexpected dividends, in an abundance of grace. It takes more work, more ownership, more accountability, more humility and self-discovery, and more revelation of grace than you will expect.
