Meet Stephanie

Master of Divinity student, Kairos University

Grand Island, NE

Regional Representative at MyBridge Ministry

We asked Stephanie a few questions to learn more about her journey at Kairos. Here is what we discovered.

What led you to Kairos University?
I found myself longing to know more, I simply couldn’t get enough of God’s Word. I began to wonder if God might be leading me to Bible college or some form of deeper study. When I shared this with my sister, she suggested I talk with her prayer partner, who had just begun seminary with Kairos. What a gift that conversation became. My journey with Kairos has exceeded every expectation. I’ve grown in ways I never anticipated, and my understanding of who God is, and who I am in Him, has deepened tremendously. I’m grateful for the flexibility of the program, even though learning to navigate it stretched me.

The Reflection in Community Sessions during the gatherings have been especially meaningful. Inviting the Holy Spirit into that space as we share, pray for one another, and learn together has been such a beautiful experience. Along with the guidance of my faculty mentor, those moments have had the greatest impact on my journey.

What moments or experiences at Kairos have been most meaningful in your journey?

When I first started this program, I struggled to get traction and make any progress.  This caused me to doubt if this is what God really wanted me to do. Each time, God would affirm and confirm he wanted me here.  After going through this cycle a few times, God led me to scripture to remind me that he has called me to Kairos. I wrote them on a notecard, which I have read every morning since. On the back I wrote my own personal affirmation, “God gives me what I need to accomplish what He calls me to do. This I do for His glory, pointing others to him.” Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:8; 1 Corinthians 10:31

Eventually, God led me to take a leap of faith, leaving my teaching career to serve in full time ministry.  Those same verses affirmed my calling into ministry, giving me the confidence to take this lead of faith.

How has your love for Jesus grown during your time at Kairos?

The more I have come to understand who Jesus is and what He has done for me, the more my love for Him has grown. Through this journey, I have gained a deeper understanding of who God is and who I am in Christ. I did not realize how studying theology would deepen my love for Jesus, but it did. Learning about other faith traditions and practicing theological hospitality has broadened my perspective and better equipped me to serve my community. I can clearly see how God has used this season to prepare me for ministry in my new role.

What advice do you have for someone considering attending Kairos University?

This program is about so much more than an educational learning experience. It is about a journey to knowing God more, discovering who you are in such a way that will change your life and relationships with others. You will be challenged in ways you never expected and learn things you would not otherwise learn without this experience. If God has brought this to your attention, just say yes and get started. You will be transformed!

How can the Kairos Community continue to support and pray for you in your current role?
I desire to continue to be faithful, fully surrendered to God’s will and his leading. May I remain humble, knowing it is Him working in and through me to accomplish what He wants me to do. I want to remain open to where he leads and what he wants me to do in my life.
