Creativity in Preaching Lab

October 5, 2026

In August, Kairos University students, staff, faculty, and mentors gathered at the Green Lake Conference Center in Wisconsin, for the Creativity in Preaching Lab, a week dedicated to learning, creative experimentation, and community.

Kairos University partnered with the Green Lake Conference Center to create an environment where participants could explore new approaches to preaching, engage in meaningful conversation, and experiment with creative practices. Throughout the week, participants took part in creativity-focused sessions, guided discussions, and hands-on activities designed to help them think differently.

A key part of the experience was putting learning into practice. Through preaching labs, participants experimented with new styles and methods, tried new approaches, learned from one another, and received encouragement. Creativity continued during a special dessert experience that challenged participants to discover how creativity can emerge in unexpected ways.

Kairos students also participated in in-person Reflection in Community sessions and spent meaningful time with fellow students and faculty.

The Creativity in Preaching Lab brought together learning, experimentation, practice, and community in a unique way. Participants left with new ideas to explore, new practices to try, and a renewed invitation to approach preaching with curiosity, creativity, and imagination.

Next week, Kairos University will launch a new blog series on Creative Preaching, written by Rev. Dr. Heather Henson, director of the Creativity in Preaching project and Affiliate Faculty and Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Ministries and Preaching at Kairos University.
