FAITHFUL
Kairos University stewards followers of Jesus who flourish in their vocations for the sake of the world. We do this through a global system of theological education that is affordable, accessible, relevant, and faithful. We think that faithfulness requires an unwavering commitment to following Jesus and studying God’s word in the company of others who are doing the same.
Everything we do within Kairos University is rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. As the first fruits of the new creation, Jesus has “all authority in heaven and on earth.” Being faithful followers of Jesus means letting Jesus have the last word on everything. One of our mentors, pastor Matt Styles, puts it this way. Everything in the written word (the Bible) points to the Living Word (Jesus) who has the last word (the final say).
By God’s grace, we have the blessing of God’s written Word. While we must always remember that it points to Jesus, who has the final word, we must also recognize the unshakeable truth it reveals. The Bible shares the story of God reconciling the world through Christ and inviting us to participate in that ongoing work by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being faithful followers of Jesus means learning how to read the Bible as we discern where God is moving today.
Being faithful followers of Jesus means we are always learning more about what it means to be a disciple. Discipleship is not a collection of facts we learn about God. Rather it is a life-changing and ongoing journey of becoming more like Christ as we pick up our crosses and follow him. Being part of the global Kairos movement means seeking to be a faithful follower of Jesus – even when that means interacting with people you disagree with!
